Legerdemain (pronounced lej-er-di-mayn) means ‘a skilful use of one’s hands when performing conjuring tricks’.
It’s derived from the French ‘leger de main’ meaning ‘light of hand’.

Close-up magic is performed with the audience close to the magician. The magic happens just inches away from the spectators, and often in their own hands, rather than up on a stage.
It makes use of everyday items such as cards and money, rather than suspicious-looking props.
It is sometimes called table magic or street magic.
What sort of events is close-up magic suitable for?
Close-up magic is ideal for almost any event, because it can be adapted to any environment. It doesn’t involve large props or an elaborate set-up, and can be performed anywhere, any time.
